One major step in our project is the creation of the battery boxes which will be placed underneath the car between both axles. We are keeping the mechanical all-wheel drive so we have a cardan shaft running in the middle of the car. This leads to two boxes filled with battery cells, one left and one right of the shaft.
Running on an electrical motor has the big advantage that you really need only one gear. The motor can bring full torque from zero speed. But as we are working with a syncro, we want some more! We will keep gears 1 and 2 calling them L and H. L for going steeply uphill and H for running on regular roads with a top speed of 135km/h!
We’ve ordered the batteries today! The traction battery is going to have 120 pieces of 130Ah cells. As for a project like this wich is going to be manually built prismatic cells make the most sense.
Shipping from China is going to take a while. We are expecting delivery around end of february, jay!
